With heart shaped leaves, dark purple blooms dangle from an umbrella shaped calyx in a bright fuchsia hue which remains after the center has fallen giving the appearance of two kinds of blooms on the same vine.
Purple bell vine is a 10 foot tall climbing vine growing in USDA zones 3 - 11.
Growing to 7 to 10 feet if supported on a trellis, Rhodochiton needs rich, well drained soil and full sun to partial shade and will bloom from late spring to late fall. Purple bells is a great plant to grow up a trellis where it will reach 10 feet tall.
You can also plant Rhodociton in hanging baskets and let the lovely tubular flowers drape down over the basket. Whether you plant these flower seeds in the ground as an annual or in a hanging basket, it will bring you a long season of flowers and add an exotic touch to your garden.
Sow 2 - 3 seeds per plant to begin growing this unique climbing vine.
