Summer Skies has light to medium blue flowers with the center 'bee' of white. So pretty and enchanting. Delphiniums do best in cooler climates. They perform best in rich soil that drains well, and they prefer a monthly application of fertilizer during the growing season.
This delphinium nearly reaches 6 feet tall and grows as a perennial in USDA zones 3 - 8.
Summer Skies is marked by immense, graceful, light to medium blue flower spikes with white 'bees'. If the flower seeds are sown in early spring, Summer Skies will bloom the first year putting on a mid-summer show of color.
This hybrid is from the Delphinium Pacific Giants series and it can reach a height of 6 feet. These tall beauties create a wonderful back border for the perennial flower garden, or plant them in a mass in the center of an island garden.
Sowing Rate: 2 - 3 seeds per plant. Start Delphinium seeds indoors in early spring for blooms the first year. To get a jump start on the growing season, sow Delphinium seeds indoors 4 - 6 weeks before last frost. Use sterile starter mix in trays and cover flower seeds 1/8 - 1/4 inches.
