This foliage begonia is low maintenance, easy care, and doesn't use a lot of water. It tolerates shade, partial shade and dry conditions for great success in many locations. Exotic-looking, light green foliage with dark green veins gives a big "wow" factor!
Grows 14 - 16 inches in height as a perennial in USDA Zones 9 - 10 and an annual in colder climates.
Garden-to-house Gryphon lets you extend the growing season when plants are brought indoors to enjoy at the end of the outdoor growing season. Can grow to 30 inches tall in hot/humid conditions. Easy-care, low-water plant blends beauty with durability to make dramatic mixed or solo containers.
Gryphon Begonia is bred for its superb foliage that combines majestic beauty with strength and durability. Its upright, mounded habit produces large, palmate rich green leaves streaked in silver. The undersides of the leaves and slender stems are deep orange-red. Begonia Gryphon is a cultivar in the cane-type begonia group. Traits of cane begonias include thick, upright stems and the absence of rhizomes or tubers. The roots of cane begonias are fibrous.
Sow 1 - 2 pelleted seeds in 70F temperature and keep seeds moist until germination. Space plants 12 - 16 inches apart. Germination usually in 10 - 14 days.
