About This Item
Kids will love this annual ornamental grass! Lagurus ovatus, or commonly called Bunny Tails, is a fun plant that adds beauty and interest to any landscape. The grass is neat and compact and at the start of summer flowers emerge that look like a little ball of puff or a Bunny Tail!
This annual grass reaches 1 - 2 feet tall and grows in USDA zones 4 - 10.
With the coming of fall the ball of puff dries out adding fall and winter interest to the landscape. In mild climates, they will last most of the winter. Bunny Tails also are excellent for cutting and drying.
The little cream balls of puffs do not shatter and they can be used in dried arrangements as an everlasting. Bunny Tails prefers sandy soil and a location in full sun. Once it’s established, it is quite the easy plant to grow. It complements other flowering plants in the garden nicely.
Sowing Rate: 4 - 6 seeds per plant. Start the seed indoors 4 – 6 weeks before the end of frost season, or directly sow seed outdoors after frosts have passed. Press the seed into the soil and cover it lightly. Germination is usually in 12 days with temperature ranging from 68 – 72F.
