About This Item
This red foliage adds lovely color to the landscape. Commonly called Painted Nettle, these annuals can be grown from seeds. This variety grows to about 10 inches in height, and it has larger leaves than many Coleus plants have, creating a wonderful exotic effect in shade gardens.
Coleus grows as an annual plant in USDA zones 4 - 10 only reaching 10 inches in height.
It is suggested to grow the seeds indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost is expected. The flower seeds need to be pressed into the soil but not covered. Cover the starting pots or trays loosely with plastic wrap to help maintain moisture and remove once germination occurs.
Coleus can grow in partial to full shade or as an indoor house plant.
Space coleus plants approximately 8 inches apart.
